Sharon's Class Schedule
Projects for Indiana Woodcarvers Summer Camp – Bremen, IN 2011
2012 schedule and projects will be announced later

Thursday Morning 9:00-12:30
Stylized Tree (5x7)
This poplar design is perfect for both beginner and advanced students.  Beginners concentrate on tool control while advanced students learn about movement and quality of line.  Also covered are the principles of expressionism and how this technique can strengthen realistic burnings. (pens used: ball or writer)

Thursday Afternoon 1:30-5:00
Chickadee (3x5)
This design will cover techniques for feathers, eyes, florals, branch textures, and adding subtle color with watercolors. All levels are welcome. Class will cover shape, form and texture as design elements. (pens used: rounded edge skew and shader)

Friday Morning 9:00-12:30
Oak Leaves (3x5)
This design covers techniques for texturing, depth, surfaces, and shading.  A number of approaches will be covered to show students how to adjust for their own style of burning and different looks. All levels are welcome. (pens used: round edge skew, shader, ball/writer, some or all pens may be used depending on student’s choice)

Friday Afternoon 1:30-5:00
Sailing Ship (4x6)
This design is currently in my sketchbook and being tested.  This promises to be a fun little project perfect for finishing off the week.  The approach will be stylized reminiscent of Japanese woodcuts.  We will discuss movement, exaggeration, and different ways to express water and movement. (pens used: Ball or writer, skew – optional)
